Generally speaking it is less expensive to buy them online compared to your local camera accessory store.  Online retailers do not have a store front and retail sales people, so they are able to offer less expensive products.  They also generally do not collect sales tax, saving you a bit.  Although you will pay for shipping on your memory card reader if you buy it online, you still save money comparing it with local prices.  Please be aware when you purchase any item online.
